In May 2019, the quality of SEP Métrologie was highlighted during the Chamber of Commerce gala and received a distinction in the “Service company with 15 employees and fewer” category.
This distinction helps increase the visibility of a company specializing in the manufacturing field. Thus, it rewards all the efforts made by the SME to provide quality and personalized services to its customers.

SEP Métrologie works in the manufacturing field as a service company specializing in the calibration of dimensional measuring and testing instruments.
Its mission; offer all its customers a quality calibration service, directly in their businesses. But also, provide a complete service including calibration, purchase of equipment (supplier) and maintenance. With customer service at the heart of their concerns, the SME constantly invests in quality equipment. In the last three years, more than $160,000 in equipment has been invested.
It is through this quality personalized service and the continual search for improvement that SEP Métrologie becomes a reference in the manufacturing environment. The organization then made a name for itself among local companies working in the aeronautics sector.
SEP Métrologie stands out…
The company stood out at the beginning of its journey by offering the service directly in its customers’ facilities.
Over time, the service has improved. SEP Métrologie now offers the possibility of obtaining a turnkey service. The company therefore offers its customers the calibration service, either in the internal SEP Métrologie laboratory or directly on site, and above all, the management and planning of their instrument fleet.
As part of managing a fleet of measuring instruments (inventory), SEP Métrologie ensures sound management and to do so, the company has developed cloud software. A great strategy in the midst of digital change and 4.0 industrialization in Quebec.
This tool, designed by the SEP Métrologie team, aims to execute all of the processes related to the management of the entire range of instruments for each of our clients, such as;
- Calibration;
- Monitoring of deadlines;
- Monitoring of orders as well as subcontracting;
- Replacements;
- Non-conformity reports;
- Park inventory, etc.
SEP Métrologie has made a name for itself among local companies working in the aeronautics sector. Indeed, most of SEP Métrologie’s major clients have accreditation dedicated to the field of aeronautics, namely the AS9100 standard.
In order to meet the new requirements of AS9100 auditors who recommend that its accredited persons carry out rigorous monitoring of their thread gauges, gauge blocks or gauge rings, the company acquired new equipment in 2016, the Labmaster Universal 175. This device makes it possible to provide SEP Métrologie customers with an accuracy of 0.000002 inch (2 µin).
The Labmaster is a highly precise and distinctive device highly coveted in the world of calibration. Only a few laboratories in Montreal have one. By making the strategic choice to invest in this equipment, SEP Métrologie maintains and solidifies its direct link with its customers and thus avoids subcontracting for gauges which are used daily by its customers.
To this was added the Roundness Tester for the calibration of reference spheres (Master CMM Ball). Being in the 4.0 era, the company decided to increase its capacity while reducing effort. To do this, in March 2019, the company acquired an IChecker for the more precise calibration of dial indicators as well as probes.
In summary, over the last three years, more than $160,000 in equipment has been invested. There have also been improvements made to the laboratory for temperature and humidity control. Thus, a controlled environment of 20 degrees Celsius is maintained. A tiny variation of 0.5 degrees per hour is permitted. Significant sums have been invested in programming the GescalPro software so that it becomes an integrated management software package. This is still in constant evolution today, in order to obtain the best service provided to the customer.
Continuing education, the distinction of SEP Métrologie
Continuing education is essential in our field.
This is why our two technicians, among other things, followed training in Chicago at the Mitutoyo Metrology Institute. Thus, they were able to perfect their knowledge of metrology, but above all with the aim of acquiring new skills in equipment repair.
Added to this was the purchase of specific instruments for this type of repair. The goal is to reduce the waiting time for repairs and eliminate an intermediary.
